Dallas, Texas. (Aug 8, 2016) – Milgard® Windows & Doors, Designer Door & Window along with Homes 4 Hero’s, a veterans program created by Rebuild Together of greater Dallas, announce the restoration of a burned home, belonging to Navy veteran, Al Hearne.
Al served in the Navy for eight years and has worked at the VA Hospital for 30 years as a Cardiology Technician. He is proud to be a veteran and to go that extra mile providing health services for other veterans. He treats every patient with the utmost care because he knows what they went through in service to their country.
Homes 4 Hero’s goal is to provide veterans with safe and healthy homes and help support the men and women who have served our country. Hundreds of volunteers come together to complete a home project including: demolition, basic remodeling, and finish-out. Many companies, like Milgard and Designer Door & Window volunteer their time, product and services to provide assistance.
“Al had been living in his fire ravaged home for a couple of years because it was all he could afford to do,” said Steve Barron, owner of Designer Door & Window. “He put his family up in a one bedroom apartment, but, there was no room for him, so, he’s been living in his burned down home. We heard about his situation and wanted to help.”
“Milgard has a great program where employees can actively give back to the communities in which we live and work through volunteering and donations,” said Bill Schmidt Milgard Texas Sales Manager. “Our Grand Prairie, Texas plant raised money to cover the cost of the Style Line® Series vinyl windows and Designer Door & Window, a certified Milgard dealer, provided the installation assistance.”
Milgard offers a Matching Gift/Community Action Team (MG/CAT) program for employees that want to actively give back to the communities in which they live and work. They strive to see their local communities thrive, through hard work, good products and quality volunteering time.
