Tacoma, WA (Oct 2, 2019) – Milgard Windows & Doors and its employees raised over $36,000 for Bike MS 2019 in support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and to honor the memory of Kim Flanary.
The Bike MS: Deception Pass Classic, is a two-day ride through Skagit, Whatcom and Island Counties of Washington State. This was an important cause to Kim Flanary, an Engineering Director at Milgard Windows & Doors for 25 years who passed away unexpectedly in 2018.
Milgard had a team of 20 volunteers and riders, including the Flanary family, who all joined to honor Kim’s legacy and help the cause. Team Flanary / Milgard Windows & Doors raised over $36,000 for the National MS Society for research for a cure.
“This is my third year going to help at the biker rest stop, and again it was a rewarding and memorable event”, said Cheryl Jones, Accountant Milgard Finance Department. “To see all the bikers riding for the MS cause and to be able to help them get refreshed and fueled up was a great thing. I was proud to have helped, even if in a small way.”
“I’ve done many organized bike rides and this was one of my favorites,” said Glenn Ziegler, VP of Operations for Milgard. “Great people, beautiful scenery and lots of fundraising for a great cause. The Milgard rest stop at mile 11 was a highlight!”
This was the eighth year in a row Milgard participated in Bike MS and the first time a team name was dedicated to a Milgard employee, who’s dedication to charity was widely known across the company. Special Team Flanary t-shirts were also designed for the participants to wear on the day of the event.
